I apologize to Holly at <a href="http://goodgollymisshollybooks.blogspot.com/">Good Golly, Miss Holly </a>and Lara Zielin for taking such a long time. Especially since I loved the book so much! So without further ado, here is my review.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Can I just say one thing? You <i>have</i> to read this book. It doesn't come out until August, but I suggest you put it on your to-read lists right now!</div><div style="text-align: justify;">It's been awhile since I've read a book that's been able to suck me in so completely. A book I stayed up until three AM, even after I took my sleeping pill, to finish. This is a book you literally cannot put down because the knots in your stomach after each chapter won't calm enough to do anything else but read. This normally only happens to me with Courtney Summers' books, which I <i>love</i>. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">Now here's a new book to love like crazy. It's about Aggie Winchester, a girl who doesn't know much about herself in the beginning. It's about her finding out who in her life is good or bad for her and discovering who she is along the way. It's also about bass fishing, which I don't think anyone but Lara Zielin could ever make interesting. Along with all of this, there is the discovery of her mother's breast cancer and a prom fiasco that becomes a national scandal. Honestly, I think anyone would implode. And I'm not even telling you the half of it!</div><div style="text-align: justify;">If I could, there's only two things I'd change about The Implosion of Aggie Winchester, and they are the extreme use of the F-word and slightly too graphic sexual content. The latter is only, like, two paragraphs, but what can I say? I'm kind of full of innocence.</div><div style="text-align: justify;">I loved everything else; the story, all the characters, the writing was incredible, and...Yeah, it was amazing! Go get it in August!</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div>Sarahhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00893176104211441616noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5701663538903388029.post-36885880425870272322011-03-07T12:17:00.000-08:002011-03-07T12:17:27.132-08:00Real Life is a Sad Game.<div style="text-align: justify;">Why do people have to die? </div><div style="text-align: justify;">Can someone answer this question for me? I really don't understand why people live and then die, and they're gone. Why are you one day on Earth and the next, you're gone? </div>Friends and family make life more enjoyable, but when you lose one of those people, it makes life a lot harder, even if it's just inside. Sometimes it's hard on the outside, too.<br />
I had been volunteering at my library for a few months and stopped because of my allergies and not knowing what they're from. I've always known and been friendly with the librarians, so it was easy to fit in. We all got closer fast. Everyone in the library are close friends.<br />
All of the people I worked with were absolutely amazing. Funny, smart, and really nice.<br />
I just got back from my library, taking things back as a patron, and I asked how the one girl was. I don't want to give anything too personal away here, it just doesn't seem right. Before I asked, the manager and I were talking and laughing. After I asked, her face fell. "She passed away."<br />
It was a long time coming, I guess, after the things she'd been through, but I still didn't expect it. How could she be dead? I was just praying for her last night to get better. I've been praying for her since forever to get better. I truly believe in God, so I really didn't think she was going to die. But I was starting to expect it, kind of waiting for it. I was getting to the point where I didn't want to go to the library because I was afraid I was going to go and they were going to tell me she died.<br />
I just don't understand how someone so nice, so caring, so funny, could just be gone. And I know it's got to be so hard for the other librarians. I'm just in complete shock right now.<br />
I just wish I could tell her goodbye and how much she's helped me over the last few years. Want to tell her I'll never forget her. That everyone loved her. That her creative writing free summer class was much better than she thought. I just have to know she's in a better place.Sarahhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00893176104211441616noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5701663538903388029.post-20062754636594269442011-02-21T10:13:00.000-08:002011-02-21T10:13:31.918-08:00In My Mailbox ( 6 )<div style="text-align: justify;">In My Mailbox is hosted by Kristi at <a href="http://www.thestorysiren.com/">The Story Siren</a>.</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Before I start my IMM, I just want to say how sorry I am for being slow with everything. I have a couple of reviews written down that need to be posted and I haven't done Waiting on Wednesday in a few weeks. I've been slacking. But I'm going to try to change that. This is my first blog ever, so if you be patient with me, I'll hopefully make this a really great blog to come and visit!</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Okay, on to my books!</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Everything I got this week was from the library. I have no idea how to receive books for review, so that's why I haven't had any yet.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxK2KGRjAQ2eMrSePogJbcoRZu2kmVDJmUxnu3rmLHeC9-QpUijp_qp1xzM1HhIwwDQ9bEc6rp9J5KnYHn6smqUXyMi0sA9p4JSaEdMheUjMwvZCZGp0TfL4i1N5s25zf8m0ifNyXlTHY/s1600/imm%252B6.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxK2KGRjAQ2eMrSePogJbcoRZu2kmVDJmUxnu3rmLHeC9-QpUijp_qp1xzM1HhIwwDQ9bEc6rp9J5KnYHn6smqUXyMi0sA9p4JSaEdMheUjMwvZCZGp0TfL4i1N5s25zf8m0ifNyXlTHY/s1600/imm%252B6.png" /></a></div><div style="text-align: justify;"> I'm sorry if any of these books are hard to see, but for some reason, I couldn't figure out how to take a good picture today. Anyway, this is my haul!</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><i>Stupid and Contagious </i>by Caprice Crane. I can never remember which blogs I find good books on, because I read so many, but I saw another blogger praising this author, so I ordered in her first book. It sounds cute and is an adult novel. Definitely excited to read it.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><i>Cryer's Cross </i>by Lisa McMann. I got this book out for a book club I have on <a href="http://www.goodreads.com/">Goodreads</a> which you can find <a href="http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/42560._The_Young_Adult_Book_Club_">here</a>. I haven't actually participated in any of the reads yet, but I thought that this one looked good. Of course, I will probably actually have to read it before the club's start date so I can return it to the library.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><i>A Little Wanting Song </i>by Cath Crowlery. This is another book I found on a blog, but it's not a reading blog. It's called Portrait Magazine and it has a lot of celebrity and tv show, music kind of things on it. Anyway, they have book lists and this month featured a list of books featuring music. Originally published in Australia, <i>A Little Wanting Song</i> intrigued me. After I saw we had it in the library's system, I had to order it!</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><i>Deadly Little Games</i> by Laurie Faria Stolarz<i>. </i>Ahh I love this series! I've already finished this book and loved it, just like I loved the first two. Now I just need to get my hands on the next one that's not out yet... If you haven't read the Touch series, you need to. It's so good.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><i>The Book of Tomorrow</i> by Cecilia Ahern. Love Cecilia, as you know. I didn't order this book, it was just there at my library and I couldn't pass it up. It sounds really good. It's about a book that tells you what's going to happen tomorrow. This is also an adult book and I'm looking forward to reading it.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><i>Revolution</i> by Jennifer Donnelly. I have heard nothing but good things about this book, so when I saw it in our young adult section, I had to pick it up. Another book I cannot wait to read.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><i>Clockwork Angel </i>by Cassandra Clare. This is another book for my <a href="http://www.goodreads.com/">Goodreads</a> book club. I'll actually be able to read it with them on time, I believe, since they're starting March 1. I haven't read any of this author's books and I hear good and bad about them. The only thing I want to know is if I can read this one without reading the others first, since it's a prequel? Anyone who lets me know, I will be eternally grateful to.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Well, those are all the books I got this past week. Sorry for being late with this, too, but I was out all day yesterday. We went to see the musical <i>Camelot</i>, which was incredible. Plus we were so close we could see how much the actors really spit. Haha, it was great. Makes me want to read <i>Avalon High</i> by Meg Cabot again.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Oh, and one last thing:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhq0Tgu4SkU6u626q8tjnjq7c2EjKM9BqqzLg11FKImOZT9_71r7oDHmEQdCnl0XI3Gal96ZqjxC0TGStOV_tUHDiamxmRd46DKm9-ctC_5JL6rzqjqVDMw9mIQ-Ce4MgeiEupwzG_ladY/s1600/imm%252B6%252B.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhq0Tgu4SkU6u626q8tjnjq7c2EjKM9BqqzLg11FKImOZT9_71r7oDHmEQdCnl0XI3Gal96ZqjxC0TGStOV_tUHDiamxmRd46DKm9-ctC_5JL6rzqjqVDMw9mIQ-Ce4MgeiEupwzG_ladY/s320/imm%252B6%252B.png" width="240" /></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;"></div><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">Another signed book! I love it.</div><div style="text-align: justify;">What did you get in your mailbox? </div><div style="text-align: justify;">Until next week, happy reading!</div>Sarahhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00893176104211441616noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5701663538903388029.post-23785683733658208212011-02-15T14:21:00.000-08:002011-02-15T14:21:15.489-08:00Random Tunes Tuesday! ( 5 )<div style="text-align: justify;">Hi everyone and welcome to Random Tunes Tuesday! </div><div style="text-align: justify;">This week's song is <u>Take Me or Leave Me</u> from the Broadway show <i>Rent</i>!</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-style: italic;"><span style="font-size: large;">Take me for what I am</span></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-style: italic;"><span style="font-size: large;">Who I was meant to be</span></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-style: italic;"><span style="font-size: large;">And if you give a damn</span></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-style: italic;"><span style="font-size: large;">Take me, baby</span></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-style: italic;"><span style="font-size: large;">Or leave me </span></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-style: italic;"><span style="font-size: large;"> </span></span> </div><div style="text-align: justify;">So if you couldn't tell by the picture of my bookcase all set up, I love <i>Rent</i>. Yes, I bought the huge as heck, forty dollar <i>Rent</i> "bible". Basically, what I'm trying to say is that I love <i>Rent</i> a great deal. So, in honor of <i>Glee</i> finally doing a <i>Rent </i>song, I figured it was the perfect time to express how much I love the original before you all hear the <i>Glee</i> version tonight!</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />

So, let's see what I got.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMw_Ft8XuyG_SDag81oh0mR9GW0KiVTh4gkAqNij6v1xtVCo5JKVr80K-LhoQCrZu1w-1fcNQ5G1ZJdk2TbWJ8ajx8dTnSr9395-oyR9qrAfVTgfqbpjuTX0DbJ2LbzCwhBgGekw-VKSs/s1600/imm%252B5.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMw_Ft8XuyG_SDag81oh0mR9GW0KiVTh4gkAqNij6v1xtVCo5JKVr80K-LhoQCrZu1w-1fcNQ5G1ZJdk2TbWJ8ajx8dTnSr9395-oyR9qrAfVTgfqbpjuTX0DbJ2LbzCwhBgGekw-VKSs/s1600/imm%252B5.png" /></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;"></div><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;"><i>Confessions of a Serial Kisser </i>by Wendelin Van Draanen. I just finished reading <i>The Running Dream</i> ( look for a review soon ) and I loved it. This book was at Big Lots on Friday when we went for three dollars. I couldn't pass it up.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><i>Where I Belong </i>by Gwedolyn Heasly. Yes, I got it! I'm so excited to read this book. Basically, I can't wait to read it, but it will probably sit on my bookcase for a few months because A. I get too many library books out and B. I want to read it so bad that I'm not going to want to read it because once I'm done reading it, I won't be excited to read it. Get it?</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">So, I was a little bit late with this week's IMM. Why, you ask? Because I spent my weekend, or Saturday anyway, putting this together.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtgpwfRckmWY5ACb5FyrIwHA_RJla_ya2facsNUs11vO_RK4xXj0-pjElDDRReqWOZMuaO-Ql-jnlOh3NUc1ICp_fpZcUoj7cLvzGZ0OkWmPVwdu8PeLWsOHpXXGYzieGF0Z2fJDrLK9E/s1600/imm%252B5%252B.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtgpwfRckmWY5ACb5FyrIwHA_RJla_ya2facsNUs11vO_RK4xXj0-pjElDDRReqWOZMuaO-Ql-jnlOh3NUc1ICp_fpZcUoj7cLvzGZ0OkWmPVwdu8PeLWsOHpXXGYzieGF0Z2fJDrLK9E/s320/imm%252B5%252B.png" width="240" /></a></div><div style="text-align: justify;"></div><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">My brand new bookcase, also bought at Big Lots. It was my Valentine's Day present from my parents and it's AMAZING! I've been wanting a new bookcase for a while because I hardly had any room left for any books. This one is a good amount bigger, so I have more room. It was also only thirty dollars, so my mom didn't argue too much when my dad found it for me.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfL39pQJocjgv9LcgvR6pKkAL5r_dB6HgjdOBXJ9DE2POragutj45RgrhhF6IUBoMWwdzHZp4k1oA3-PhirLwOareR-KESoTpZ_ueVXrFaCwXvRtdllw8PVbMuDKqXB1zwjm3KPRGoCsg/s1600/imm%252B5%252B%252B%252B.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfL39pQJocjgv9LcgvR6pKkAL5r_dB6HgjdOBXJ9DE2POragutj45RgrhhF6IUBoMWwdzHZp4k1oA3-PhirLwOareR-KESoTpZ_ueVXrFaCwXvRtdllw8PVbMuDKqXB1zwjm3KPRGoCsg/s1600/imm%252B5%252B%252B%252B.png" /></a></div><div style="text-align: justify;">And this is Love Bug, Bug for short, being bad and kinda laying in the bookcase while I was in the middle of getting all my books into it.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKQqJHGoCophhxaR36bLBoPub4qVgxX3hDL2-qSdDYEXdCd30fpqT3h58cecZOftYRA1sKZsDkxqgVaG9Ad3Xxy-08BftmJHgmJZcTfTma65SFC7gGLoIpMf0l7RtoZLeK-49qTbsMJJs/s1600/imm%252B5%252B%252B.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKQqJHGoCophhxaR36bLBoPub4qVgxX3hDL2-qSdDYEXdCd30fpqT3h58cecZOftYRA1sKZsDkxqgVaG9Ad3Xxy-08BftmJHgmJZcTfTma65SFC7gGLoIpMf0l7RtoZLeK-49qTbsMJJs/s320/imm%252B5%252B%252B.png" width="240" /></a></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Tada! I love it so, so much! No, not all of my books fit this one, either, but they fit much better than before. I'm still super excited about it. And my IMM is late because yesterday I just kind of died from putting this together ( it was harder than it looks! ) and today I finished cleaning up my room. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">So that's all I got this week, but I think it was a pretty good haul. What did you get?</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">PS. HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY, MY LOVELIES! </div>Sarahhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00893176104211441616noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5701663538903388029.post-53201542389476334342011-02-08T11:37:00.000-08:002011-02-08T11:38:23.306-08:00Random Tunes Tuesday! ( 4 )<div style="text-align: justify;">This week's song is <u>Better Life</u> by Keith Urban.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><i>Someday baby</i></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><i>You and I are gonna be the ones</i></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><i>Good luck's gonna shine</i></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><i>Someday baby</i></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><i>You and I are gonna be the ones</i></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><i>So hold on</i></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><i>We're headed for a better life</i></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: small;">So I know I mostly use country songs, but it can't really be helped when it's my favorite genre. Anyway, I chose Keith Urban's <u>Better Life</u> because it's a really catchy love song. It's something you can dance to. I also chose it because I'm pretty sure it's my absolute favorite music video. The music video depicts the relationship of a young couple and it's just perfect. It's the kind of couple I want to read about, write about. It's the kind of relationship I want to have, simply because it's so beautiful. I just love it. Lockhart<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEieXAml6qIHUNvxFELjPLg0wa1Db6vusmmeA4tI7Thz6rYrgIX2tTl6Ew7uuFtv4LQug_rwPJ824ca3P6QO1HSo7xl9h48Q7QXPIap_QEA602o6XF6qW8vPiFXoe2qiWNUDEkGi8vv6Byk/s1600/imm%252B3.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEieXAml6qIHUNvxFELjPLg0wa1Db6vusmmeA4tI7Thz6rYrgIX2tTl6Ew7uuFtv4LQug_rwPJ824ca3P6QO1HSo7xl9h48Q7QXPIap_QEA602o6XF6qW8vPiFXoe2qiWNUDEkGi8vv6Byk/s1600/imm%252B3.png" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">I don't have synopsis for all four books rolled into one, so you're just going to have to trust me, or this post would be very, very long.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">I cannot even begin to say how much I absolutely adore this series. Everything about it was perfect- The titles ( The Boyfriend List * 15 guys, 11 shrink appointments, 4 ceramic frogs, and me, Ruby Oliver; The Boy Book ( a study of habits and behaviors, plus techniques for taming them); The Treasure Map of Boys: Noel, Jackson, Finn, Hutch, Gideon-and me, Ruby Oliver; Real Live Boyfriends * yes, boyfriends, plural. if my life weren't complicated-I wouldn't be Ruby Oliver. ), the terms ( Ag, roly-poly, Reginald, Mocha Latte ), the boys ( Finn, Hutch, Noel, Gideon, and Jackson ), the best friends and terrible wenches, Dr. Z, her parents, and of course, Ruby Oliver herself.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">I started reading this series on Wednesday and I just finished the fourth, and hopefully not final but newest, five minutes ago. It's 1 am on Sunday morning. They're not long books, but it was still faster than normal reading.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">That's because I love, love, loved these books! They were so real, with so much feeling that you almost believe you're actually sitting in the room with Roo while she's telling you all about her high school debacles.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">Through the whole series, I laughed and cringed and gagged and groaned and sympathized and even cried a little, which really isn't a normal occurrence for me.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">What I'm trying to say is that it doesn't matter who you are, you won't regret it if you pick up this whole series <b><i><u>RIGHT NOW</u></i></b>. ( and this isn't being posted at 1 am, but even if it was 1 am, I still mean <u><i><b>RIGHT NOW</b></i></u>! ) Just be sure you don't download this book for free because that really sucks. If people illegally download it, there won't be anymore books and I really want another book. You wouldn't download a pizza, would you? Okay, anyway, don't download it.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">These books are perfect. Read them. Seriously. NOW.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">( Sorry about being a bully about this, but they are really that good. )</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><u>Favorite Line</u>: ( One of, because out of four amazing books, I just can't put them all. So this one is from <i>Real Live Boyfriends</i>. ) "<i> "Ah, just you wait. I'll have like Great Danes and pygmy goats and maybe even a baby panda living with me. That's just what panic does to people if the attacks get bad enough." </i>"</div>Sarahhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00893176104211441616noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5701663538903388029.post-52475144622254295062011-02-06T10:35:00.000-08:002011-02-06T10:35:35.289-08:00In My Mailbox ( 4 )<div style="text-align: justify;">In My Mailbox is hosted by <a href="http://www.thestorysiren.com/">The Story Siren</a>! </div><div style="text-align: justify;">Hello everyone, I hope you've had an awesome week! I don't have any great excuse for not blogging this week, aside from reading. So there it is. I'm a slacker and I apologize. Now onto all my new books! I got quite a few this week!</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><u>Bought</u>:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidFdTS39ya5lYLjgTxOvSvSoybo4CBXVF5wLIrsw-eS5fTd8qQAxkPIx6b7eeBoSCkY0P4NilxskU4Q2uXMZ2uj5tVnWYtIZtc84WNumXsvn24UTLUnhv38uLZLL6xLHjkikVHExl5-xk/s1600/imm%252B4%252B.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidFdTS39ya5lYLjgTxOvSvSoybo4CBXVF5wLIrsw-eS5fTd8qQAxkPIx6b7eeBoSCkY0P4NilxskU4Q2uXMZ2uj5tVnWYtIZtc84WNumXsvn24UTLUnhv38uLZLL6xLHjkikVHExl5-xk/s1600/imm%252B4%252B.png" /></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">I went a little bit crazy on Friday with buying books. I'm also feeling pretty guilty about it because I have to send a $300 deposit to school to hold my place and my room for September by May 1, aka my twenty-second birthday. I've got one hundred saved and I was planning on saving another fifty this month, but I kind of spent it on books. Like the Borders clerk said, "at least you're not buying three rows of coke" and I was like okay, that's true. Because I spent fifty bucks on three books. I just about passed out.</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Anyway, onward!</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><i>I Remember You</i> by Harriet Evans. I've read one of Harriet's books before and I bought it because the cover had glitter on it. It was gorgeous. It wasn't the best book ever, but I did enjoy it, so a few months ago, I got her other two books. This is her newest book and I think it came out in August or September? I'm not sure. It was two dollars at Half Price Books, so I'm feeling pretty awesome about this one.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><i>Delirium</i> by Lauren Oliver. I wasn't going to buy this book. I was actually looking for another book because I had a gift card for Barnes and Noble for Christmas and I was totally saving it for <i>Where I Belong</i> by Gwedolyn Heasly. Well, I've been saving that gift card for forever and I couldn't. <i>Delirium</i> wasn't with the YA books like I thought it would be, which was so weird. I thought they hadn't gotten it and at that point, I was thinking our Barnes and Noble sucked. Anyway, I loved <i>Before I Fall</i> and when I did see it, I had to get it. Oh and the reason I wasn't going to? I'd ordered it from the library already. But I figured, there's a bunch of other people wanting it and I won't get it for months. I came home to cancel it and it was in transit to my library for me. Just my luck.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><i>Love, Inc</i> by Yvonne Collins and Sandy Rideout. I couldn't resist this book. I've been waiting for the library to get it in since I heard about it and we just haven't. I had to get it. It just looks absolutely adorable. Right now, it's on my bookshelf, right next to <i>Anna and the French Kiss</i>. I figured they belonged together with how cute they both look.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><i>Trapped</i> by Michael Northrop. I felt like I had to get this book because of the Contemps Challenge. The only book from that challenge that's out that I don't own is <i>The Duff</i>, which is incredible, by the way, because I read it before I even heard of the challenge. So I got it because of that. I kind of resent how short it is for eighteen dollars, but I really hope it's worth it.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><i>Across the Universe</i> by Beth Revis. This book is literally everywhere. I see it everywhere in the bookstores. This is the one I bought completely impulsively. This one, I really don't think I'd ever get from the library. But, really, I hear it's supposed to be awesome, so hopefully I like it.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><u>Library</u>: </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEih-es5w7oYYLfbjr0Ww5nnydXP-ZhtkWweJMEsm_VnwmtBgJBQV4ZbeA-Dammd_rkODQtfxuYRaOQIclXOUzZeWnomdC4xq5A3AlkGw_nj4XcPmpCl1GmsmmgxlYhmploZbxbk607KUR8/s1600/imm%252B4.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEih-es5w7oYYLfbjr0Ww5nnydXP-ZhtkWweJMEsm_VnwmtBgJBQV4ZbeA-Dammd_rkODQtfxuYRaOQIclXOUzZeWnomdC4xq5A3AlkGw_nj4XcPmpCl1GmsmmgxlYhmploZbxbk607KUR8/s1600/imm%252B4.png" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br />
</div><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;"><i>Mad Love </i>by Suzanne Selfors. When I was able to actually contain myself from buying every book I saw a few weeks ago, I came home and ordered this book from the library. They only have one copy in the system and it was checked out, but I was the only person to hold it, so I waited it out. I just started reading it this morning and, so far, it's really good. It's got Cupid in it, so that's a little different, but interesting anyway.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><i>Five Flavors of Dumb</i> by Antony John. I never really knew anything about this book before I saw we had it at my library. It sounds super interesting. It's about this girl who has to try and get this band a gig at her school, but it's hard for anyone to trust that they're good because she is deaf. I've never read a book where the main character was deaf, so I'm really looking forward to this one.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">That's all the books I got this week. Okay, I got a bunch but I am still feeling slightly guilty. I'll live, especially when I'm reading them.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">Last week, I posted a video of my cat, Lorelai, and I realized that it's actually very hard to see her, do to the fact that she's under my sheet for all but a second of the video, so I decided to post a picture of her for you guys to get a better look at her.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguNYbRgdlaj1An_uyfxJf3z27n2R9MUoZsZ5I7kYv22xytGfb7JMTvsSsTvc6R1ZZcQNd_cKwbAxvxYLKa7CzSQDQcmRzlnams0tdmArbI7qGvht6OpcBdTj8KWCHMYXyPgb4Stzd_jyo/s1600/lorelai.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguNYbRgdlaj1An_uyfxJf3z27n2R9MUoZsZ5I7kYv22xytGfb7JMTvsSsTvc6R1ZZcQNd_cKwbAxvxYLKa7CzSQDQcmRzlnams0tdmArbI7qGvht6OpcBdTj8KWCHMYXyPgb4Stzd_jyo/s1600/lorelai.png" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"></div><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">I accidentally cut off her ears in the picture. She was being hard to photograph, though, so this was the best I could get. So yeah, that's my pookie bear!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">Have a great Sunday, root for the Steelers tonight, and happy reading!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">What did you guys get this week?</div>Sarahhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00893176104211441616noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5701663538903388029.post-923098181484893762011-01-30T09:19:00.000-08:002011-01-30T09:19:08.897-08:00In My Mailbox ( 3 )<div style="text-align: justify;">In My Mailbox is hosted by <a href="http://www.thestorysiren.com/">The Story Siren</a>! </div><div style="text-align: justify;">So I didn't get too much this week and, again, it was all from the library, but it definitely deserves to be showcased! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2JUY5HpTglnWEP90g_fiu64K_i6hLUvMLqoYT_SHGFHPI97e26FXypBAGoVFa6IhjqVMCXCVqznYklpGDHfV2bq-_Z-2UFCV_K7kIJjD4gJMbRkPScXE4Lv-LK64FKN9768tQkfAEdLw/s1600/imm%252B3.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2JUY5HpTglnWEP90g_fiu64K_i6hLUvMLqoYT_SHGFHPI97e26FXypBAGoVFa6IhjqVMCXCVqznYklpGDHfV2bq-_Z-2UFCV_K7kIJjD4gJMbRkPScXE4Lv-LK64FKN9768tQkfAEdLw/s1600/imm%252B3.png" /></a></div><div style="text-align: justify;">It's the Ruby Oliver series by E. Lockhart! I heard that these books are hilarious and they seem like quick reads, so I ordered them. I think I'm going to read <i>The Boyfriend List</i> as soon as I'm done with <i>Nevermore</i>, which I'm reading right now.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />

</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Okay, so that's all! I may post my review for<i> Hold Still</i> by Nina LaCour sometime today. ( 3 )<div style="text-align: justify;">Hello everyone and welcome to the third edition of Random Tunes Tuesday. I have the most perfect song for today!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><u>Here We Go</u> by Roger Woods ( 2011 version )</div><div style="text-align: center;"><i><span style="font-size: large;">Here we go/</span></i></div><div style="color: #f1c232; text-align: center;"><i><span style="font-size: large;">Here we go/</span></i></div><div style="text-align: center;"><i><span style="font-size: large;">Here we go/</span></i></div><div style="color: #f1c232; text-align: center;"><i><span style="font-size: large;">Steelers, here we go/</span></i></div><div style="text-align: center;"><i><span style="font-size: large;">Pittsburgh's going to the super bowl!</span></i></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-size: small;">The main reason I didn't have my IMM up on Sunday night was because I was going nuts over the football game. I even lost a little bit of my voice from screaming, even though I understand very little about football. I just know that the Steelers are a common bond for almost everyone in Pittsburgh. We're all nuts about getting into the Super Bowl, so I thought this would be the perfect song. Okay, so it's not going to inspire any fiction writing, but it was just too perfect to pass up. What kind of Pittsburgher would I be if I didn't post this?</span></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-size: small;">From my aunt's facebook: </span></span></div><h6 class="uiStreamMessage" data-ft="{"type":"msg"}" style="font-weight: normal; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: small;"><i><span class="messageBody">Good evening, Jets passengers. <div style="text-align: justify;"></div><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;"><i>Nevermore</i> by Kelly Creagh. One my friends from Goodreads, who also got me to read <i>The Summer of Skinny Dipping</i> kept ranting about this book, so I ordered it right away.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><i>The Running Dream</i> by Wendelin Van Draanen. I don't know what made me order this book. I saw it on <a href="http://www.thestorysiren.com/">The Story Siren</a>'s IMM and decided to request it. I'm pretty excited about reading it!</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><i>Psych Major Syndrome </i>by Alicia Thompson. When I'm really bored, I surf through other blogs to pick random books to read, and I saw this. I love psych things, so I thought this would be good. I'm currently reading it and it's awesome so far!</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><i>For Keeps</i> by Natasha Friend. I started reading this book in June, but I didn't finish it. I honestly have no idea why I didn't finish it! I still remember little parts of it and it's driving me nuts that I didn't finish it! So I figured I'd try it again.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><i>The Sky is Everywhere</i> by Jandy Nelson. I actually owned this book. I sold it because I couldn't get into it the day I started reading it. But now I see so much positive feedback on it that I just have no other choice but to give it another chance!</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><i>Life, After</i> by Sarah Darer Littman. This author is awesome. I read <i>Purge</i> last week and loved it. She has another book coming out soon and it's part of the Contemps Challenge, which I am participating in. I'm excited to read it!</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><i>Choker</i> by Elizabeth Woods. Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh! I actually finished this book yesterday and I loved it. So good. Must read.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><i>How to Kill a Rock Star</i> by Tiffanie Debartolo. This was another book I saw on a blog. They actually featured little excerpts and I liked them, so I got it out.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Last but not least, I got an awesome surprise when I opened <i>Dirty Little Secrets</i> to read on Wednesday. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhz59oSAz7fvFwZ9e06LCidLZWS_k8H-R6eIyrrj1LAcTPx14prjDDNDDT3D0UIFgP5sPZgnSlBXpXnHQbLgFYKwzaQIsf1y7c89E60FamdWtJOMuJp_TgZni49ARYE5s8NQ5W4bySyRyI/s1600/surprise.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhz59oSAz7fvFwZ9e06LCidLZWS_k8H-R6eIyrrj1LAcTPx14prjDDNDDT3D0UIFgP5sPZgnSlBXpXnHQbLgFYKwzaQIsf1y7c89E60FamdWtJOMuJp_TgZni49ARYE5s8NQ5W4bySyRyI/s320/surprise.png" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: justify;"></div><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">Yes! There's an autograph from the author to all the Pittsburgh library readers. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: red;"><span style="color: black;">From <a href="http://www.goodreads.com/">Goodreads</a>: </span></span><i><span class="reviewText" id="freeText17407371139649785009">Wendy Anderson and Hakiam Powell are at opposite ends of the spectrum—the social spectrum, the financial spectrum, the opportunity spectrum, you name it. Wendy lives in an all-white suburb of Philadelphia, where she’s always felt like the only chip in the cookie. Her dad, who fought his way out of the ghetto, doesn’t want her mingling with “those people.” In fact, all Wendy’s life, her father has told her how terrible “those people” are. He even objects to Wendy’s plan to attend a historically black college. But Wendy feels that her race is more than just the color of her skin, and she takes a job tutoring at an inner-city community center to get a more diverse perspective on life.<br />
<br />
Hakiam has never lived in one place for more than a couple of years. When he aged out of foster care in Ohio, he hopped a bus to Philly to start over, but now he’s broke, stuck taking care of his cousin’s premature baby for no pay, and finding it harder than ever to stay out of trouble. When he meets Wendy at the tutoring center, he thinks she’s an uppity snob—she can’t possibly understand his life. But as he gets to know her better, he sees a softer side. And eventually—much to the chagrin of Wendy’s father and Hakiam’s cousin—they begin a rocky, but ultimately enlightening, romance.<br />
<br />
This edgy story about a star-crossed couple features strong African American characters and sparkles with smart, quirky dialogue and fresh observations on social pressures and black-on-black prejudice.</span></i></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span class="reviewText" id="freeText17407371139649785009">This was one of the books that I judged by the cover. The pages of the book folding into a heart is just so simple, not to mention beautiful.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span class="reviewText" id="freeText17407371139649785009">I loved how the author knew her characters so incredibly well. It's not always easy to write a story where you can change your characters' perspectives but still keep them so true to themselves. I admired the plot and the possibility of happiness, no matter what kind of situation you find yourself in. All of the characters were incredible and easy to love, either for their harshness or for their openness to others who aren't like them.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span class="reviewText" id="freeText17407371139649785009">I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is looking for something good in their lives and won't stop, no matter what people say. It will probably bring a smile to your face.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span class="reviewText" id="freeText17407371139649785009">Overall, I really enjoyed this book and its characters. Sometimes judging a book by its cover is the right thing to do.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span class="reviewText" id="freeText17407371139649785009">Favorite line: <i>"He walked up to her and looked in. <div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-size: small;">From <a href="http://www.goodreads.com/">Goodreads</a>: </span></span><i><span class="reviewText" id="freeText7494413114152532499">Thea Galehouse has always known how to take care of herself. With a flighty club-owner mom and a standoffish, recovering-alcoholic dad, Thea has made her own way in her hometown of New York, attending the prestigious and competitive Stuyvesant High School. But one chat with Will, a handsome and witty senior, and she's a goner—completely hooked on him and unable to concentrate on anything else.<br />
Always worried that she loves Will more than he loves her, Thea is pleasantly surprised when their romance weathers his move to college and Will goes out of his way to involve her in his life. But then, Thea misses a period. And that starts Thea and Will on a wild ride that neither of them could have possibly prepared for. When they decide to keep the baby, their concerned parents chip in what they can to keep Will in school and give both teenagers a comfortable place to raise their child. But when a freak accident leaves Thea shaken and threatens to upend their little family altogether, Thea is forced to turn to the last place she would have chosen for comfort: her stiff, uncompromising father.<br />
This smart, touching first novel brims with realistic, beautifully drawn characters, and reminds us that love is never as easy or predictable as we might like it to be.</span></i></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />

It's more about what happens after that decision than the actual decision, which is different and interesting. </span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span class="reviewText" id="freeText7494413114152532499"> </span><span class="reviewText" id="freeText7494413114152532499">This book doesn't come out until August, but you can be sure that I will be picking it up. Tonight he didn't stop after the first slap. <br />
At the beginning of senior year, Ann was a smiling, straight-A student and track star with friends and a future. Then she met a haunted young man named Connor. Only she can heal his emotional scars; only he could make her feel so loved-and needed. Ann can't recall the pivotal moment it all changed, when she surrendered everything to be with him, but by graduation, her life has become a dangerous high wire act. Just one mistake could trigger Connor's rage, a senseless storm of cruel words and violence damaging everything-and everyone-in its path. <br />

( 2 )<div style="text-align: justify;">Hey everyone, I really enjoyed doing this last week, so here comes the next addition of Random Tunes Tuesday!</div><div style="text-align: justify;">This week, the song is by two people and I was actually going to use it last week, but changed my mind. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><u><span style="font-size: small;">Don't You Wanna Stay</span></u><span style="font-size: small;"> by Jason Aldean featuring Kelly Clarkson</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><i>don't you wanna stay here a little while/</i></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><i>don't wanna hold each other tight/</i></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><i>don't you wanna fall asleep with me tonight/</i></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><i>don't you wanna stay here a little while/</i></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><i>we can make forever feel this way/</i></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><i>don't you wanna stay</i></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><i><br />
</i></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-size: small;">Okay, this song is so addictive. I can listen to it over and over and not get tired of it. Plue, Kelly and Jason's voices sound so perfect together! It's emotional and longing and perfect. Okay, not completely perfect. I don't love the official music video because it's a live performance of the song and, to me, that's boring. But the song is absolutely awesome! So check it out. Also the artist I featured last week, Steel Magnolia's ( <u>Just By Being You</u> ) came out today. Two thumbs way up for their first album. <span class="reviewText" id="freeText15552515079577745027" style="font-size: small;">From <a href="http://www.goodreads.com/">Goodreads</a></span><span class="reviewText" id="freeText15552515079577745027">:</span><i><span class="reviewText" id="freeText15552515079577745027"><i> S</i>ometimes I still wake up shivering in the early hours of the morning, drowning in dreams of being out there in the ocean that summer, of looking up at the moon and feeling as invisible and free as a fish. But I'm jumping ahead, and to tell the story right I have to go back to the very beginning. To a place called Indigo Beach. To a boy with pale skin that glowed against the dark waves. To the start of something neither of us could have predicted, and which would mark us forever, making everything that came after and before seem like it belonged to another life.<br />
<br />
My name is Mia Gordon: I was sixteen years old, and I remember everything.<br />
<br />
</span></i><span class="reviewText" id="freeText15552515079577745027">I originally had no interest in reading this book. It wasn't until a friend on Goodreads read it and praised it. Because she said that it starts out slow, I knew not to give up on this one. And I'm glad that I didn't.<br />
There were a couple of things in this book that nagged me to no end ( ex: "but though..."), but I ended up really enjoying it. The characters really grew on me after about the first hundred pages. ( Except for Simon; I loved him from the moment we met. ) Corinne was a deeper character than I first pegged her to be. By the end of the book, she was definitely one of my favorite characters of the book.<br />
I would recommend this to any girl who loved a nerdy guy who is still so sure of himself and lovable. Also for anyone who enjoys living in the moment.<br />
Overall, though it took me a while to get in, <u>The Summer of Skinny Dipping</u> was a satisfying read.<br />

<br />
Three out of four stars.<i> </i></span></div><br />

Since I believe that music plays a big part in writing and the creation of the books we love, I figured it would be okay to showcase one of my favorite songs each week. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">The first song on my list ( the still non-existent list ), is called Just By Being You ( Halo and Wings ) by Steel Magnolia.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"> <span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-style: italic;">and I'll take off my halo/</span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-style: italic;"> if you take off your wings/</span></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-style: italic;">you don't have to be invincible/</span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-style: italic;"> 'cause I sure ain't no saint/</span></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-style: italic;">you'll always be my angel, no matter what you do/</span></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-style: italic;">'cause you take me to heaven/ just by being you</span></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-size: small;">Why do I love this song so much? It's incredibly powerful and romantic. It is definitely one of my favorite songs from 2010. I love the duo that sings it, Steel Magnolia. They're debut album finally comes out next Tuesday, so I'm very excited. The music video is gorgeous, so you should definitely check it out and please let me know what you think!</span></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-size: small;"><a href="http://www.amazon.com/Just-Being-You-Halo-Wings/dp/B003V6HLPM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1294168101&sr=8-1">Buy</a> | <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0N2v9gRNcrg">YouTube</a></span><span style="font-style: italic;"> </span></span></div><br />

Being a reading blog, it is not about me, but about all of the books we love, books we can't wait to read, and everything in between. As of right now, while I'm learning more about the blogosphere, this blog will mostly be reviews and other things such as the classics: Waiting on Wednesday and In My Mailbox. You should expect my first review in about two days, since I'm still reading it. So sit back, grab a comfy seat, and get ready to learn all about your next favorite book! </div>Sarahhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00893176104211441616noreply@blogger.com4
