Okay, before I start my review, the one that I wrote almost two months ago, I just want to say that I am so sorry that it's taken me this long to get it up and on my blog. I apologize to Holly at Good Golly, Miss Holly and Lara Zielin for taking such a long time. Especially since I loved the book so much! So without further ado, here is my review.
Can I just say one thing? You have to read this book. It doesn't come out until August, but I suggest you put it on your to-read lists right now!
It's been awhile since I've read a book that's been able to suck me in so completely. A book I stayed up until three AM, even after I took my sleeping pill, to finish. This is a book you literally cannot put down because the knots in your stomach after each chapter won't calm enough to do anything else but read. This normally only happens to me with Courtney Summers' books, which I love.
Now here's a new book to love like crazy. It's about Aggie Winchester, a girl who doesn't know much about herself in the beginning. It's about her finding out who in her life is good or bad for her and discovering who she is along the way. It's also about bass fishing, which I don't think anyone but Lara Zielin could ever make interesting. Along with all of this, there is the discovery of her mother's breast cancer and a prom fiasco that becomes a national scandal. Honestly, I think anyone would implode. And I'm not even telling you the half of it!
If I could, there's only two things I'd change about The Implosion of Aggie Winchester, and they are the extreme use of the F-word and slightly too graphic sexual content. The latter is only, like, two paragraphs, but what can I say? I'm kind of full of innocence.
I loved everything else; the story, all the characters, the writing was incredible, and...Yeah, it was amazing! Go get it in August!
